# gLOGGED Community Guidelines

**Effective Date:** May 1, 2026
**Version:** 1.0
**Last Updated:** May 1, 2026

---

gLOGGED is a platform for documenting and sharing your gaming journey. These Community Guidelines describe what you can do here, what we don't allow, and how we enforce the rules. They apply to every part of the Service: reviews, journal entries, lists, comments, usernames, display names, bios, avatars, banners, images you upload, links you attach, reports, appeals, and any other way you interact with the community.

These Guidelines are part of our [Terms of Service](terms-of-service.md). Violating them can result in content removal, warnings, suspension, or permanent account termination. Some violations also result in reports to law enforcement.

If you see something that breaks these rules, please **report it** using the report tool on the content or the user's profile. Reports are confidential.

---

## 1. Our Principles

- **Your voice matters. So does everyone else's.** A one-star review of a beloved game is just as valid as a five-star love letter. Disagreement is healthy. Using the platform to harm, harass, or manipulate is not.
- **Be honest.** Write what you actually think. Document what you actually experienced. Don't impersonate, don't plagiarize, don't fabricate.
- **Respect spoilers.** Use the spoiler flag. Always.
- **Look out for each other.** If something feels off, report it.

---

## 2. What You Can Do

- **Rate and review games** with honest opinions — glowing, critical, or anywhere in between.
- **Journal your experience** — first impressions, boss fights, plot moments, endings, replays. This is the heart of gLOGGED.
- **Create lists** — curated collections of games that share a theme, mood, or connection.
- **Attach images** — screenshots, photos of your setup, anything that helps tell the story (subject to the rules below).
- **Link external content** — YouTube videos, gLIVED clips, Discord threads, guides, streams — to games and journal entries (subject to the contact-info and link rules below).
- **Comment on others' content** (once you've earned the trust level; see Section 9).
- **Like, follow, and discover** — that's what makes the community work.

---

## 3. Ratings for Content Visibility

Every game on gLOGGED carries a content rating — **EC, E, E10+, T (13+), M (17+), or AO (18+)** — sourced from ESRB, PEGI, or equivalent rating bodies.

- **M and AO-rated content is hidden by default** for all users. To see it, you must opt in through Settings → Content Preferences. Opt-in is unavailable to users under 18.
- Reviews, journal entries, and comments **inherit the rating of the game they're attached to.** If you've filtered out M-rated games, you won't see M-rated discussion either.
- Users **13–17** cannot raise their filter past the age-appropriate default. Adults can lower their filter at any time.
- When content is hidden by a filter, cover art is blurred and the item does not appear in feeds, search, or discovery.

---

## 4. Zero-Tolerance Violations

The following will result in **immediate content removal and account action**, up to permanent ban, without warning. Severe categories are also reported to the relevant authorities.

### 4.1 Child Safety Violations

Any content that sexually exploits, endangers, or sexualizes minors — including fictional, drawn, animated, or AI-generated depictions — is strictly prohibited. Content depicting grooming or any exploitation of minors is strictly prohibited. **Where required or permitted by law (including 18 U.S.C. § 2258A), we report such content to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to law enforcement** and will cooperate fully with any investigation.

### 4.2 Hate Speech and Incitement

Content that promotes, glorifies, or incites hatred, violence, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, veteran status, or other protected characteristics. This includes slurs, coded language ("dogwhistles"), imagery associated with hate movements, and content that dehumanizes or denies the humanity of a protected group.

### 4.3 Credible Threats of Violence

Direct or implied threats of real-world violence against any individual, group, or venue. Statements glorifying mass violence. Incitement to imminent harm.

### 4.4 Doxxing

Publishing, or threatening to publish, another person's private information — real name, home or work address, phone number, government ID, email, photos of their home, their family, their schedule, etc. — without their explicit consent.

### 4.5 Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery

Any sexual or intimate image or video of a real person shared without their consent. This includes deepfakes and "revenge" content.

### 4.6 Impersonation with Intent to Deceive

Creating an account or posting content that falsely represents you as another real person, a brand, a public figure, or a gLOGGED staff member, with the intent to mislead. (Clearly labeled satire and fan accounts are permitted, provided they do not mislead a reasonable viewer.)

### 4.7 Ban Evasion

Creating a new account or using another person's account to circumvent a suspension, ban, or other restriction applied to you.

---

## 5. Prohibited Conduct (Escalating Enforcement)

These are prohibited and will result in escalating penalties — a first incident typically draws a warning or temporary restriction; repeated or severe incidents lead to suspension or permanent ban.

### 5.1 Harassment and Bullying

- Personal attacks in reviews, journal entries, lists, or comments directed at another user
- Following a user across the platform to leave hostile responses on their content
- Coordinated group targeting of an individual (including off-platform coordination)
- Unwelcome sexual, romantic, or inappropriate remarks directed at a user
- Dogpiling, brigading, or encouraging others to attack a user

### 5.2 Spam and Manipulation

- Repetitive, irrelevant, or promotional posts
- Automated account creation, content posting, or engagement
- Excessive following and unfollowing to inflate follower counts
- **Review bombing** — coordinated posting of reviews to manipulate a game's rating
- **Paid reviews** without disclosure, reciprocal rating schemes, "rate-me-and-I'll-rate-you" arrangements
- Shilling for games you or someone paying you developed or published without disclosure
- Using multiple accounts to amplify your own content or suppress others'
- **Affiliate links** or paid promotional links without a clear "ad" or "affiliate" disclosure in the content itself

### 5.3 Plagiarism

Presenting someone else's writing, screenshots, analysis, or creative work as your own. Quotation and reference are fine — with credit and, where possible, a link.

### 5.4 Spoilers Without a Flag

Plot spoilers, boss reveals, ending discussion, and similar are only permitted in content that is flagged as containing spoilers. Spoilers in usernames, titles of reviews or lists, or comment previews are prohibited regardless of flag. Moderators may add spoiler flags to unflagged content.

### 5.5 Deliberate Misinformation

Fabricated controversies, doctored media, intentionally false factual claims presented as true, and similar. Good-faith criticism, subjective opinion, satire, and parody are not misinformation.

### 5.6 Off-Topic Content

gLOGGED is for discussing games and documenting gaming experiences. Political campaigning, religious proselytizing, unrelated commercial promotion, and other off-topic content belong elsewhere.

### 5.7 Illegal and Regulated Content

- Solicitation or facilitation of illegal activity
- Promotion or facilitation of violence, self-harm, or suicide
- Sale of regulated goods (firearms, drugs, prescription medication, alcohol/tobacco to minors, stolen goods)
- Gambling promotions targeted at minors
- Links to pirated game content or piracy tools
- Content that infringes intellectual property rights (see also the [DMCA Policy](dmca-policy.md))

### 5.8 Account and Platform Abuse

- Bypassing rate limits, CAPTCHAs, filters, or access controls
- Scraping the Service or using unauthorized automation
- Reverse engineering, probing, or testing for vulnerabilities outside an explicit authorized-research program
- Interfering with other users' ability to use the Service

### 5.9 Contact Information in Public Content

Do not publish phone numbers, home or work addresses, government ID numbers, or financial account numbers in public content. Off-platform social handles are permitted for adult users in designated profile fields; they are restricted in content visible to or associated with minors.

---

## 6. Mature Content Specifically

Games with M or AO content ratings have unique creative merit and gLOGGED welcomes honest, frank discussion of them. However:

- **Discussion of mature themes** in M and AO-rated games is permitted in journal entries, reviews, comments, and lists. Discussion may be detailed and reference adult subject matter (sexuality, violence, addiction, abuse, mental health, etc.) where relevant to the game.
- **Sexually explicit imagery, descriptions, or pornographic content is not permitted on gLOGGED**, regardless of the game's rating, the user's filter settings, or the user's filter opt-in. You may reference the existence of explicit content in a game ("this game contains explicit sexual scenes") but you may not reproduce or describe it in pornographic detail.
- Graphic violence is permitted when associated with games depicting that violence and discussed in context; gratuitous or shock content unrelated to a game is not.
- Content that would be illegal in the United States is prohibited regardless of the game's rating.

---

## 7. Reviews and Rating Integrity

Reviews are the public summary of your take on a game. To keep ratings meaningful:

- One review per user per game. You can edit or delete your review at any time.
- Rate honestly. Low and high scores both have a place.
- Disclose conflicts of interest (you worked on the game, you received a free review copy, you have a financial stake in its success, etc.).
- Don't coordinate with others to move a game's score up or down.
- New and low-trust accounts have reduced or zero weight in rating averages. This is by design, to resist manipulation.

Certain high-profile release windows may trigger enhanced integrity measures ("shield mode") during which new reviews are held for screening. This is temporary and is used sparingly.

---

## 8. Reporting

### 8.1 How to Report

Use the report button on the content or user profile. Select a category, write a brief description (10–1,000 characters), and submit. Reports are confidential; the reported user does not see who reported them.

### 8.2 Report Categories

Hate Speech · Harassment · Spam · Inappropriate Content · Spoilers · Misinformation · Impersonation · Review Manipulation · Child Safety · Other

### 8.3 Good Faith

Reports must be made in good faith. Mass reporting to harass another user, false or malicious reports, and abuse of the report system are themselves violations of these Guidelines.

### 8.4 What Happens After a Report

Reports go through automated triage, then human review. Severe categories (child safety, credible threats) are prioritized. You may receive a notification when your report has been reviewed. We cannot always share the specific action taken, for privacy reasons.

---

## 9. Trust and Reputation

gLOGGED uses an internal trust score (not publicly visible) to determine certain privileges and rate limits. Trust is earned through clean history, quality content, email verification, account age, and positive community interactions. New and low-trust accounts:

- Have their ratings weighted less (or not at all) in game averages
- Have lower daily rate limits for posting
- Face stricter automated review of their content
- May have comments or other engagement features gated until trust is established

Trust is built over time. Severe violations can permanently damage or eliminate trust standing.

---

## 10. Enforcement

### 10.1 Moderation Actions

Depending on severity, we may take any of the following actions:

- Add a spoiler flag or content warning to content
- Hide content (reversible on appeal)
- Remove content permanently
- Issue a formal warning
- Temporarily restrict specific features (e.g., review ban for 7–90 days, comment ban)
- Temporarily suspend an account (1–90 days)
- Permanently ban an account and related accounts
- Report to law enforcement and/or NCMEC where required

### 10.2 Escalation

First offenses typically draw the lightest effective action. Repeated or more serious violations escalate to suspension and ban. Zero-tolerance violations (Section 4) may skip all intermediate steps and result in immediate permanent ban.

### 10.3 Volunteer Moderators

Some moderation actions may be taken by trusted community members acting as volunteer moderators. They operate under staff oversight, have limited tools, cannot access your private account information, cannot permanently ban you, and cannot moderate users they follow or who follow them. All moderator actions are logged and subject to staff review.

---

## 11. Appeals

If we take action against your content or account, you can appeal once, within **thirty (30) days**, using the in-Service appeals form. A different moderator will review your appeal. Decisions are final, except that we may revisit them in our discretion.

Zero-tolerance violations (Section 4), ban evasion, and certain repeat-offender cases are generally not eligible for appeal.

---

## 12. Off-Platform Conduct

We generally do not moderate conduct that occurs entirely off gLOGGED. However, we may take action against a gLOGGED account if its off-platform conduct:

- Threatens the safety of other gLOGGED users (e.g., doxxing, credible threats tied to gLOGGED identities)
- Constitutes coordinated harassment that spills into the Service
- Evidences the user as a member of an organization that exists to harm others
- Involves illegal conduct where the user self-identifies with their gLOGGED account

---

## 13. Age-Specific Protections

Users aged 13–17 are subject to automatic protections described in the [Children's Privacy Notice](childrens-privacy.md), including default profile privacy, mature-content filtering that cannot be overridden, and removal of external-link surfaces. Content directed at minors will be moderated more strictly.

---

## 14. Changes to These Guidelines

We may update these Guidelines from time to time. For material changes, we will notify users in advance. Continued use of the Service after the effective date means you agree to the updated Guidelines.
